Expanding Interests and Activities
In this autism video, you’ll cover these learning objectives:
-
List three benefits of expanding your child’s interests and activities
-
Describe how to choose new interests and activities to be developed
-
Implement the steps involved in developing new interests and activities.

It can be heartbreaking when a child shows little or no interest in age-appropriate activities. A lack of appropriate ways to occupy time can result in an increase in self-stimulatory behavior, limited social interactions, and fewer opportunities to teach functional communication and other important skills.
Autism Education & Behavior Training Services offers an educational resource that addresses this important concern. Our training, “Expanding Interests and Activities” uses video examples and step-by-step instruction to show parents and teachers how to successfully develop and expand a child’s interests and activities.
Developed in collaboration with Thomas M. Caffrey, M.Ed., BCBA, “Expanding Interests and Activities for Children with Autism” provides practical plans for those working directly with children with autism on a daily basis.
