Getting Kids to Eat: No More Picky Eaters
In this autism video, you’ll cover these learning objectives:
-
Explain why some children with autism become picky or selective eaters
-
Identify three guidelines for selecting new targets
-
Implement the steps required to increase both the variety and amount of food your child will eat

Overcoming the selective eating habits of a child with autism can be difficult. “Picky” eating can involve eating only nutritionally inadequate foods, a limited variety of foods, or foods from certain food groups. Autism Education & Behavior Training Services offers an educational resource to address this issue. Our video-based training, “Getting Kids to Eat” provides parents with video examples and step-by-step instruction to increase both the variety and amount of food a child will eat.
Developed in collaboration with Thomas M. Caffrey, M.Ed., BCBA, “Getting Kids to Eat” provides practical plans for those working directly with children with autism on a daily basis.
