THE FOUNDATION FOR AUTISM TRAINING & EDUCATION
...NO CHILD WITH AUTISM LEFT BEHIND

CHAOS TO COOPERATION:
CREATING AN ENJOYABLE AND PRODUCTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Most parents would say that there are too many things to do and not enough hours in the day to do them. For a parent of a child with autism, this struggle may be compounded by dealing with the effects of the disorder, harried therapy schedules, and the necessity to carry over instructional techniques into the home.

TEACHING NON-VOCAL CHILDREN WITH AUTISM TO REQUEST USING SIGN LANGUAGE
For many non-vocal children with autism, functional communication skills can be limited, defective, or even non-existent. Some children have not yet learned that interacting and communicating with others can be fun, reinforcing, or valuable.

ESTABLISHING COOPERATIVE BEHAVIOR IN THE HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY
Many school-based programs for children with autism incorporate the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to reduce inappropriate behaviors and replace them with adaptive responses. The same principles may be successfully applied in the home.

ADDRESSING PROBLEM BEHAVIOR IN SCHOOL & HOME
This workshop will focus on the assessment and treatment of problem behavior maintained by the two most common functions, social negative reinforcement, and social positive reinforcement.

OVERCOMING EVERYDAY
CHALLENGES OF AUTISM
This two-day workshop will outline how to minimize the effects of autism by zeroing in on the core deficits that define the diagnosis: functional communication, social skills, and cooperation.

SETTING THE STAGE FOR MEANINGFUL SOCIAL INTERACTIONS: MAKING FRIENDS
Most children with autism have deficits in social interaction and social communication. This workshop will provide parents with the steps necessary to create a genuine interest in peers, thereby setting the stage for more meaningful social interactions.

TEACHING CHILDREN WITH AUTISM INDEPENDENT LIFE SKILLS
Daily life skills such as hygiene, grooming, dressing, and household chores can be challenging for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. Many children with autism will not acquire these skills unless they are specifically taught.

INTRODUCTION TO ABA AND TEACHING VERBAL BEHAVIOR
This two-day workshop will illustrate through extensive use of video how applying the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to teaching Verbal Behavior (VB) can be effective in classroom settings for students with autism and other developmental disabilities.

TEACHING HIGHER LEVEL LANGUAGE & RELATED SKILLS
This two-day workshop is designed to help prepare participants to teach advanced language skills to students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Hands-on activities will provide instruction on how to teach these skills utilizing specific...

ASSESSING AND IMPROVING FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION: OVERVIEW OF
THE VB-MAPP
Children with autism MUST be properly assessed in order to obtain a baseline level of performance, provide a direction for intervention, and monitor progress. Using an inadequate assessment or no assessment at all can lead to the teaching of unnecessary skills and/or inappropriate skills.

NATURAL ENVIRONMENT TEACHING
This two-day workshop is designed to help prepare participants to assess using the Verbal Behavior Milestones and Placement Program (VB-MAPP). The VB-MAPP is based on B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior, established developmental milestones, and research from the field.

TEACHING CHILDREN WITH AUTISM TO REQUEST VOCALLY
The presenter will demonstrate, through use of video, how the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), can be applied effectively to teach a child to request (mand) vocally.

CREATING A WILLING LEARNER
This two-day workshop is designed to help prepare participants to establish instructional control and teach functional communication skills to students with autism and other developmental disabilities using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).

EXPANDING INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
The presenter will demonstrate, through use of video case studies, how the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) can be applied effectively to pair new activities with positive reinforcement which can expand your child’s interests.
